Fit a target painter and a web, and you'll have no problem hitting those cruisers and battle cruisers no matter the distance. While blasters are fun, it will take ages to get to the target with a afterburner on your mega, so stick with the rails....

Has been bothering me as well, but it seems like the stargates are treated just like any ship; as my standing with the Caldari state is quite high, and having 'high standing' unchecked, made all Caldari stargates invisible. Time for a bugreport.
